PROVINCIAL TRANSPORT FORUM KICKSTART ITS FIRST MEETING IN THE NEW FINANCIAL YEAR

Vryburg - Recently the Department of Community Safety and Transport Management held the Provincial Transport Forum first quarter meeting in Vryburg in Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District.

Transport stakeholders from across the province heeded the call of the department to attend the the meeting to discuss transport policies and regulations, transport infrastructure and implementation of transport technologies with the objective to improve the economy of the province.

Presentations were made by various stakeholders elaborating their challenges and achievements on previous financial year, and future focus plans to create viable businesses and employment opportunities through transport sector in the province in partnership with the key stakeholders from other provinces and countries.

Transport is a lucrative business only when it operates in a suitable infrastructure like proper roads and weigh bridges. When we work together as stakeholders we can achieve our objectives and vision of the forum and I'm delighted with the progress made this far in all districts" Said Director for Transport Terminals and Regulations, Dr Olebogeng Baikgaki.

Stakeholders invited at the forum were, Naledi Local Municipality, Kagisano-Molopo Local Municipality, Greater Taung Local Municipality, Maquassi Hills Local Municipality, Rustenburg Local Municipality, Moretele Local Municipality, Department of Economic Development, Environment, Conservation and Tourism, National Department of Transport, INFA - Africa Investment Holdings, Bojanala Platinum District Municipality, Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District Municipality,

Mr Siyazi Pfukani was introduced during proceedings of the forum as the service provider recently appointed to develop ITPs for Ngaka Modiri Molema District and Batlagae Projects for Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District

The next Provincial Transport Forum will be held at Ngaka Modiri Molema District in the second quarter of this new financial year of 2023/24.
